Talking to myself

When I am feeling homesick, this is the picture which comes to mind. I imagine myself, sitting on my sister's deck, appreciating the million dollar view.

I have to be careful not to treat this like a journal, even though it appears I am the only one relating to these words.

I have stopped baking (for the summer) and now Bravo Company is getting commercial goodies, like peanut butter, pistachio nuts, candies and Pringles. I also just sent some very disturbing movies. The guys won't be bothered by them, but three in a row and for two of them I had to leave the room and just "listen" to the movie as it was too disturbing (KNOWING with Nick Cage). The third movie, thank goodness (WOMEN starring all my favorite actresses) was a relief! and I am keeping that in my home library as the guys would probably think it was a CHICK FLICK and not want to watch it. I also sent them the new 007 movie, A MEASURE OF SOLACE as it was all action and no substance. I figured it would make a nice change of pace from the day to day worries of Afghanistan. 8-09

Delinquent

Do you love the blanket? Thank heavens I finished it so Nicholas could have his photograph taken in this. He is the "easiest" grandchild so far, but perhaps this is because his mother is doing such a good job in meeting his needs. He came much earlier than expected and I thought he looked like Elvis, with the long sideburns, dark hair, blue eyes and amazing long fingers, perfect for piano or guitar playing. I don't have any pictures of me, but I have enough of the children so there is a different screen saver every day, which makes working a lot more pleasant than it otherwise would be. I keep wishing I were able to do "gramma" things instead of being stuck in the office. I hope Dena will post photos of the other projects I was able to finish lately, since I became reacquainted with knitting. It does make me homesick for my mother. I talk to my sister a lot to make up for us being orphans. Well, I have a chance to write another grant to bring in another one hundred thousand dollars to our state, so I must return to the more mundane parts of my existence, leaving behind the sublime grandparenthood. :::::::sigh:::::::::::8-5-09

Feedback from Bravo Company

Little Rock, Arkansas, February 17, 2009

This post is asking for feedback from Bravo Company. I would like you to let me know your favorite baked goods (so far) and those you want that you have not gotten from anyone else. This may mean you need to spell out the ingredients you are craving!
So far the following baked goods have been shipped to you amazing folks in Bravo Company:
Greenwich Brownies
Banana Nut Bread
Cranberry Orange quick bread
Oatmeal Raisin cookies
Disappearing Oatmeal cookies
Spice box Cookies
Ice Box Cookies
Walnut spice cookies
Pecan loaf cookies
Lemon Nut Bread

So far I have sent you cream cheese to use on the breads but have avoided icings and tried to send stuff that wouldn't end up as "crumbs" before it got to u, so any ideas you have on this are welcome.

I may have forgotten some of them as I seemed to have a flurry of baking around the holidays. I don't want to mess up your PT results, so let me know if you need me to switch to sugar free. When Morgan turned four, he told all of friends they didn't have to eat the GI JOE cake I made as it had no sugar...it was, nowever, decorated with GI JOES and jeeps and artillary.

Also, I am depending on you guys to let me know if the quality of stuff I am sending via third parties is acceptable (the venison sticks, truffles, candies, sausages, cheeses etc.

This is the day all the broadcasting folks have been warning us about, the switch to all digital TV. Stay safe and warm, with regards from your Bravo Company baker
